I love Fall. My birthday is in October and it is Odyssey's birth season too, which began nine years ago. Nothing gives me more joy than to be able to share my love for music with Columbia - very much like sharing the autumn harvest with musical family and friends. Our 9th musical journey begins this week, starting with Odyssey Music @ Lenoir Woods this Tuesday at 6pm. This concert is open to the public, and admission is free. Though considered an Odyssey Outreach, this 4-concert series at Lenoir Woods is PREMIERE in quality! The first concert features flutist Alice K. Dade and pianist Peter Miyamoto in VERY exciting Liebermann Flute Sonata, as well as Dvorak Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major, performed by Joseph Gingold International Violin Competition First Prize winner violinist Scott Yoo, Mizzou grad Carolina Neves Merrit, violist Dustin Frieda and cellist Matthew J. Pierce, with Ayako Tsuruta at the piano. October 12 this coming Friday at 7pm officially opens Odyssey at First Baptist Church (FBC) of Columbia. First concert of the season at FBC is so special for us, because it allows us to come off the stage and greet all of you in person after the concert. Come hungry! I will be hosting this reception. Read all about October 12 concert in Columbia Daily Tribune, reported by Aarik Danielsen. It was my first time meeting him in person, and what a wonderful person he is - just like his writing. Read all about it here: http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2012/oct/07/odyssey-opens-with-beethoven-schoenberg/?ovation Enjoy the article, and our concerts! Musically yours, Ayako
