...It is with great sadness to learn the passing of Dr. Harry Berrier tonight. He and his wife Lina have been prominent supporter of music in Columbia, particularly Missouri Symphony Society and Plowman, for which they have donated one of the top awards for 5 years. If you would like express your condolence and thank Lina for all that they did for Plowman and in Columbia, please write via First Baptist Church at 1112 E Broadway, Columbia MO 65201.
Rest in peace, Harry. ...The Berriers were members of First Baptist Church, as well as big supporters of music in Columbia. They have come to a number of Odyssey concerts, but perhaps the most memorable one for me is the one we gave some years ago, a children's concert on a Sunday afternoon - and we performed Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals. After the performance, he and Lina came up towards the stage to congratulate us - and somehow, it forever stuck in my mind his cowboy hat and matching belt buckle. And they were both so friendly! He will be greatly missed by everyone in this community and beyond. But his feisty, infectious energy and generosity will forever be remembered!
